La Fundación Alternativas, con la intención de estimular la presentación de propuestas y visiones de progreso en las agendas políticas española y europea, abre una nueva convocatoria de Estudios de Progres o dirigida a jóvenes investigadores menores de 36 años interesados en desarrollar trabajos innovadores y/o inspirados en modelos comparados de políticas públicas europeas. El plazo de presentación de propuestas finaliza el 15 de junio próximo. La convocatoria está abierta a propuestas individuales y colectivas, valorándose aquellas en que participen investigadores de más de un país europeo. Las propuestas seleccionadas recibirán una dotación de 1.000 euros a la entrega del documento y serán publicadas como monografías con ISBN en la colección Estudios de Progreso, de acceso libre en la web de la Fundación Alternativas, que se reserva la posibilidad de realizar una presentación pública de aquellos trabajos que tengan un especial interés. __________________ BASES Convocatoria La Fundación Alternativas convoca una nueva edición de Estudios de Progreso dirigido a jóvenes investigadores de hasta 36 años interesados en desarrollar trabajos innovadores y/o inspirados en modelos comparados de políticas públicas europeas. La Fundación Alternativas comunicará la selección de propuestas directamente a los investigadores y publicará el listado final en su página web, antes del 15 de julio próximo. Dotación Las propuestas seleccionadas recibirán una dotación de 1.000 euros brutos a la entrega del documento. Las propuestas seleccionadas serán publicadas como monografías con ISBN en la colección Estudios de Progreso, de acceso libre en la web de la Fundación Alternativas. La Fundación Alternativas se reserva la posibilidad de realizar una presentación pública de aquellos trabajos que tengan un especial interés. Requisitos de los solicitantes La convocatoria está dirigida a investigadores con título de Doctor o en etapa de formación doctoral y a profesionales que posean una titulación oficial de posgrado (Máster o DEA) y lleven a cabo una actividad profesional primordialmente investigadora. No haber cumplido 36 años el último día de recepción de propuestas. Presentación de propuestas y proyectos Las propuestas de proyectos de investigación deben presentarse un texto de una extensión entre 500 y 1.000 palabras donde figuren el título tentativo del estudio, la finalidad y la oportunidad social de la investigación, cuestiones a tratar y el esbozo de las ideas y propuestas que el proyecto pretende articular. Las propuestas y los proyectos de investigación pueden presentarse tanto en español como en inglés. Los proyectos de investigación deberán tener una extensión de 40-50 páginas, información gráfica y referencias aparte. El equipo de Estudios de Progreso informará de los resultados de la selección de investigaciones, tras la evaluación del Comité de Selección, en un plazo no superior a un mes a contar desde el último día de recepción de propuestas de la convocatoria semestral a la que opten. 2. Para más información pueden dirigirse a frueda@falternativas.org CALL FOR RESEARCHS Deadline: 15 June 2014 Objective The aim of Estudios de Progreso (Progress Studies) is to encourage the presentation of new proposals and visions in relation to progress in Spanish and European political agendas. The call for research projects is aimed at young researchers who wish to devise proposals that are innovative or inspired by compared models of European public policies. These proposals may be individual or jointly-devised. Projects comprising researchers from more than one European country are particularly welcome. On presentation of the completed work, selected projects developed by a researcher or researchers will receive Euros 1.000 gross. The finalised document will be published with an ISBN number as a monograph in the Estudios de Progreso collection and will be freely accessible on the Fundación Alternativas website. Fundación Alternativas reserves the prerogative to make a presentation of certain projects which are of particular public interest. Presentation of projects The research projects should be presented in writing in a text of between 500 and 1,000 words indicating the provisional title of the study, the objective and social research opportunity, the main issues to be covered and an outline of the ideas and proposals that the project aims to expound. Proposals and research projects may be presented in either Spanish or English. Research projects should be 40 to 50 pages in length, excluding tables, graphs and references. Spain Conditions The call for research projects is aimed at researchers who (1) have received PhD status, are currently preparing their doctorate or are in possession of an official postgraduate qualification (Masters or Advanced Studies Diploma), and who are engaged in a primarily research-orientated profession; (2) hold a nationality of one of the member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area; and (3) do not exceded 36 years of age on the last day for receipt of proposals in the corresponding half-yearly call for research projects. Project selection Subsequent to evaluation by the Selection Committee, the Estudios de Progreso team will notify of the results of the research selection process within one month of the final day for receipt of proposals for the corresponding half-yearly call for research projects. Those researchers whose projects are accepted will sign a contract with Fundación Alternativas, specifying the research conditions and the deadlines applicable to the project. Part-time RA job for Greek politics postgraduate, pathways project on political representation of citizens of immigrant origin Part time (50% FTE) Research Assistant Ref SSC00533 Department Politics and International Relations Job Type Research Specific Location Attenborough Contract Type Part Time Fixed Term Contract Salary Range Salary Grade 6 - £25,759 to £29,837 per annum, pro rata (i.e. £12,879.5 to £14,918.5) Job Purpose We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant (0.5 FTE) to support the University of Leicester research team of the Open Research Area project PATHWAYS (Grant ES/L016664/1, funded by the ESRC) in the collection, processing and analyses of the data relating to the Greek case study. PATHWAYS is a comparative research project on the political representation of citizens of immigrant origin in seven European democracies (France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom). It is funded by the British ESRC, the Dutch NWO, the French ANR and the German DFG under the Open Research Area (ORA) scheme. The principal investigators are Dr. Manlio Cinalli (Sciences Po Paris), Professor Laura Morales (University of Leicester), Professor Thomas Saalfeld (University of Bamberg) and Professor Jean Tillie (University of Amsterdam). The project will start in May 2014 and the overall international collaboration will be coordinated from the University of Bamberg. The University of Leicester is the lead partner for the British team, which also includes researchers at the University of Manchester. The team based at the University of Leicester is formed by Prof Laura Morales (PI), Dr Simona Guerra, Dr Gabriella Lazaridis, Dr Luis Ramiro and Prof Carlo Ruzza, and will take care of the south European case studies. The team based at the University of Manchester is formed by Dr Maria Sobolewska and Prof Edward Fieldhouse, and will take care of the British case study. The RA recruited at the University of Leicester to support the Greek case study will be fully integrated in the international research team and will benefit from their participation in an international project. The RA will take care of key data collection aspects of this country study. Assistance with data collection will involve spending varying short periods of time (e.g. 1-2 months) in Greece for fieldwork, but the RA will normally work at the University of Leicester. The post-holder will be expected to be based at Leicester (or within commuting distance) and to come to the office at least 2 days per week. Working remotely from a different location as a general rule will not be possible. The appointed RA will be expected to start on 1st September 2014 or very shortly thereafter. Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience and Skills include: - A postgraduate degree in Politics or Political Sociology and with a substantive or methodological focus relevant to the two project. European degrees directly giving access to a PhD programme in their home university system will be regarded as equivalent to an MA/MSc/MRes for the purposes of this job application. - Demonstrable training in quantitative research methods and techniques at postgraduate level. - An expertise, backed up by research experience, in Greek politics in one or several of the following fields: political representation, legislatures, political institutions or political parties. - Proficiency in English and native or near-native proficiency in Greek. - Proven ability of social science data input, management and analysis with SPSS, Stata or R.
